However much I like all the mixes on this release. All round classic UK bleep techno. The Awakening Mix will always be the one I get drawn to and the least dreamy sounding of all the versions. No nonsense, serious and sinister, dark as you like bassline accompanied with growling acid sounding synth (particularly the first third). Gets straight to the point and is the mix which still keeps my head nodding steadily, jerking and shaking until it feels like my brain wants to take a ride. Also love those hi-hats. What I really like is that even though there's bleepy, uplifting subtle string and light apache breakbeat elements interspersed throughout the track, that bassline doesn't let you forget that it's always there and it's meant to be taken seriously. P.S. The Rankin Dredd Mix bassline was later heavily sampled on the widely recognised Reinforced Records hardcore jungle techno anthem Krisp Biscuit by the Rufige Cru.
Ratty's opening tune at a Fusion Rave in 1995, OldSkool set..Wicked set from the Ratty.
Awakening Mix is the one. As per the Breaks Bass and Bleeps album. 4/4 kicks, looped breakbeat, electro pips, and an unrelenting Detroit influenced bassline. Did I forget the bleep? Classic early 90s UK flavour. Mixes with almost anything you can throw at it. Proper (breakbeat) techno of the UK 1990 style. Seminal.
I just played the Awakening Mix again... about 5 times on loop. It's serious.
solid old one, love this simple old style, relaxing, groovy, nostalgy
Classic oldskool "Bleeper" track from Acen, Dyce & crew, very much Unique 3 meets Rhythmatic meets LFO...Top quality tune that is finally getting the respect it deserves...
