Eric Clapton is the debut solo studio album by British rock musician Eric Clapton, released in August 1970 under Atco and Polydor Records. After being successful with bands including The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, Clapton recorded an album under his own name in late 1969 and early 1970. The album cover shows Clapton sitting in a room which is going to be decorated and in which a ladder, a chair and some carpets are placed.

British guitarist and singer-songwriter Eric Clapton has released 24 studio albums, 26 singles, 18 compilations, 14 live albums and six soundtrack albums as a solo artist and scores of collaborations on records with other artists. Before his career as a solo artist, Clapton became famous as a guitarist in several bands, including The Yardbirds (1963–65), John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers (1965–66), Cream (1966–68), Blind Faith (1968–69) and Derek and the Dominos (1970–71).

Eric Patrick Clapton was born on 30 March 1945 in his grandparents’ home at 1 The Green, Ripley, Surrey, England. He was the son of 16-year-old Patricia Molly Clapton (b. 7 January 1929, d. March 1999) and Edward Walter Fryer (b. 21 March 1920, d. 1985), a 24-year-old Canadian soldier stationed in England during World War II. Before Eric was born, Fryer returned to his wife in Canada. With each album after 461 Ocean Boulevard, Eric reinvented himself musically. An unflinching documentary about his life, Eric Clapton: Life In 12 Bars premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2017.

February 18, 2016) – Music legend Eric Clapton has reunited with famed producer Glyn Johns for his forthcoming 23rd studio album I Still Do, set for release on May 20, 2016 on his Bushbranch Records/Surfdog Records. Clapton and Johns – who has also produced albums for The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who – most famously worked together on Clapton’s iconic Slowhand album, which is RIAA-certified 3x-platinum and topped charts globally. The 12-track record includes some original songs written by Clapton. This album follows his last release, the 2014 chart-topping Eric Clapton & Friends: The Breeze, An Appreciation of JJ Cale. This was a long and overdue opportunity to work with Glyn Johns again, and also, incidentally, the fortieth anniversary of 'Slowhand'! said.

Eric Clapton claimed in the press release for Back Home, his 14th album of original material, that "One of the earliest statements I made about myself was back in the late '80s, with Journeyman. This album completes that cycle in terms of talking about my whole journey as an itinerant musician and where I find myself now, starting a new family. That's why I chose the title. It's about coming home and staying home. With that in mind, it becomes clearer that the studio albums Clapton released during the '90s did indeed follow some sort of thematic logic.

Eric Clapton has composed numerous songs over the years for his own albums. Money And Cigarettes. x-sample, Simon Climie.

Eric Clapton's eponymous solo debut was recorded after he completed a tour with Delaney & Bonnie. Clapton used the core of the duo's backing band and co-wrote the majority of the songs with Delaney Bramlett - accordingly, Eric Clapton sounds more laid-back and straightforward than any of the guitarist's previous recordings. There are still elements of blues and rock & roll, but they're hidden beneath layers of gospel, R&B, country, and pop flourishes.
